Please Don't Leave Me

In the past Pink (apparently it’s no longer P!nk) has released both heated and poignant pop songs with a real emotive depth. She has, at the very least, proven herself more musically credible than your average popstar, even if the rebellious indie outsider image she has cultivated is even further from the truth. 'Please Don’t Leave Me' exemplifies the awkward existence between these two personalities which is her reality. Although the lyrics are self-penned and personal, they have a mundane descriptive quality and are easily forgettable. As is the simple backing track, which is not unlike a stripped down and lo-fi rendition of The Cure’s 'Boys Don’t Cry'.
It would be very easy to pour scorn on this track but then sometimes you have to remember that on one day Paul McCartney wrote 'Yesterday' and 'Eleanor Rigby' and on another, 'The Frog Chorus'. It can be easier to just turn a blind eye on occasion.
